For one strain or tension tower, loading on tower supports is much bigger, then tower design must consider overloading issue. Maybe in different direction, the strain stress is full, sometimes several insulator strings are used in parallel to give higher mechanical strength. When it is used in C or T towers, a tension tower is used.
For a double-circuit transmission line, which has two circuits, both tubular and lattice steel towers can be designed so as to support two circuits of electrical current. Double-circuit strain towers hold the different conductors stacked atop one another, while in single-circuit towers the conductors are lined up horizontally.
